DEPUTY SHERIFF CANDIDATE INFORMATION:

Candidates will undergo an intensive background, psychological and medical reviews. Due to the nature of the position, candidates will undergo an investigative screening which will include a thorough character investigation. All convictions must be reported. Conviction of a felony will bar appointment. Convictions of misdemeanors or violations may bar appointment. Candidates must cooperate truthfully and completely in all aspects of the investigation. Falsified or omitted information may result in disqualification.

Your physical fitness and medical condition will be evaluated to ensure that you are able to perform the duties of the position. Candidates should be aware that an offer of employment is contingent upon the passing of all phases of the process.

EMPLOYMENT:

Applicants must be:

	A U.S. citizen
	A S.C. resident
	At least 21 years of age
	Of good moral character
	Able to pass a Drug Test
	Able to satisfactorily complete a Psychological Exam
	Able to meet the Physical Fitness Standards

Applicants must have:

	A high school diploma or GED certificate (preferred College Graduate)
	A valid S.C. drivers license
	A good drivers record
	A clean criminal history
	A satisfactory credit history (No Bankruptcy)
	An honorable military discharge (if applicable)

Starting Salary $26,750- 30,965

Additional pay incentives awarded for education and certified officers

	Associate Degree 2.5% over starting salary
	Baccalaureate Degree 5% over starting salary
	Master's Degree 5% over starting salary
