The general public may access the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Offenders are required to re-register on an annual basis during their entire lifetime. Should you suspect an offender has moved away from his listed residence, or failed to comply with Registry laws, please contact the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to report the violation at 436-2013. Q. How do I start a Neighborhood Watch in my community? A. If your neighborhood is interested in starting a watch program just contact or office at 436-2237 or 436-2043. An officers will supply you with the information needed and assist you in getting started. Q. How do I obtain a copy of an accident report? A. All reports are maintained on file and are a matter of public record. You may contact our office by a written request or come by and pick up a copy at no cost. Q. How do I obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit? A. Permit applications are now available through the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (S.L.E.D.) Website. (The application is to be filled out and mailed to S.L.E.D. in Columbia, SC. The applicant must then take the required firearms course by a S.L.E.D. certified instructor.)
