Special Operations:

Special Operations consist of three different units and are under the direction of Capt. John Herriott:

(1) Crime Prevention
(2) Codes Enforcement
(3) Animal Control

Crime Prevention:

Crime prevention consist of security surveys, crime prevention presentation, neighborhood watch program, and special function. This program is designed to get the neighborhood to help fight crime. They are the eyes and ears of the community. The Crime Prevention officer will provide the needy information and material to get a neighborhood watch program started. Codes Enforcement:

The Codes Enforcement unit is responsible for maintaining all county codes which deal with residential property. They also take care of all litter problems throughout the county. They can be contacted at:

Animal Control:

Nuisance Animal County Ordinances

Animal control handles all domestic animal calls in Sumter County. This includes the apprehension, and replacement of domestic animals. The unit also maintains the animal shelter and adoption of unwanted animals.
