School Resource Officers
School Resource Officers (SRO) work with Sumter County School District to keep the schools free of violence, unlawful activity, illegal substances and other issues that are detrimental for the safety of the students, staff and visitors. SROs conduct training activities such as applicable threat assessments — specific incidents or possible occurrences —and are responsible for gathering information about criminal activity that occurs on school gounds. Our eight SROs serve as law enforcement resources to students, parents, faculty and staff at 14 schools in Sumter County.
